H.E Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism at the Official Declaration on Appointment of Tourism Department Director of Stung Treng Province

“Your life is your skill”, said H.E Dr. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism at the Official Declaration on Appointment of Tourism Department Director of Stung Treng Province on 31 March 2015 at Stung Treng provincial hall.

H.E Minister appealed to the youth students attending the ceremony to paid high concentration on tourism professional skills while the Ministry of Tourism has been focusing on development of tourism professionals in collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD) in order to conduct study feasibility in establishing two tourism professional schools in Siem Reap-Angkor and Preah Sihanouk province since Cambodia needs more tourism professionals contributing to strengthening tourism products in accordance with national, regional and international standard, particularly to be ready for ASEAN mobility of tourism professionals, whereby recently Cambodia has been recognized as the first country in ASEAN for successfully training the ASEAN House Keeping Standard.

It should be noted that in tourism sector, one tourism professional is needed to server 8 international tourists. Thus, we need approximately 1 million tourism professionals to welcome 8 million international tourists to Cambodia in 2020, and we need to develop around 50,000 tourism professionals yearly.
