Endangered hairy-nosed otters found in four provinces

One of the world’s rarest otter species, the endangered hairy-nosed otters (Lutra sumatrana), have been found in four of Cambodia’s provinces.

According to previous studies, hairy-nosed otters has been found Prek Pak Kantel (Battambang), Boeung Chhmar (Kampong Thom), Mondulkiri and the coastal area around Sre Ambel (Koh Kong). This is according to the report of the Ministry of Environment’s Facebook post.

The species is listed as an endangered species on the IUCN list.

Conservation efforts of rare and endangered species in Cambodia continues with campaigns to prevent and discourage the consumption and trapping of wild animals. The government also Zero Trapping campaign to further protection of wild species.
