More than one million tourists on last week of October
The water festival and boat races happening around the country attracted people throughout the country with tourists thronging to the provinces in droves.
According to tourism minister Thong Khon, from October 24 to 30, Cambodia saw a total of 1,073,389 tourists nationwide, of which 1,040,974 were national tourists and 32,415 foreigners.
The figures broke down as:
Svay Rieng with 445,894 people
Kandal with 206,405 people
Preah Sihanouk with 173,264 people
Kratie with 60,210 people
Siem Reap 34,486 people
Kampot with 25,216 people
Pursat with 137,737 people
Phnom Penh with 22,723 people
Kep with 16,566 people
Banteay Meanchey with 15,427 people.
Khon confirmed that the above figure had increased by 101.59 percent compared to the previous week.
He attributed the increase to Kandal and Svay Rieng organizing boat races.
