CCJ ecotourism photo competition open to published journalists

The Club of Cambodian Journalists (CCJ), in collaboration with CP ALL (Cambodia) Co Ltd, are organising a photography competition for local journalists.

The event, held under the theme “Promote the beauty of our communities”, aims to promote the beauty and positive environment of the Kingdom’s ecotourism communities.

CCJ president Puy Kea on August 7 said the club is seeking high-quality submissions from all journalists, including freelance photographers who work with the press.

“In recent years, Cambodians have developed a deep appreciation for the natural resources of Cambodia, and they enjoy visiting local ecotourism communities. However, there has been a lack of organised efforts to collect excellent photos for widespread dissemination, particularly to the international community,” he said. “That’s why we’re organising this competition – to promote these ecotourism communities.”

He expressed his hopes that the event will not only promote ecotourism communities but also play a crucial role in improving the lives of community members. It is especially aimed at assisting in the promotion and development of the tourism sector in terms of nature, culture, services and in sharing the beauty of the Kingdom’s natural resources abroad.

“This year’s inaugural contest presents an opportunity for journalists and freelance photographers to showcase their exceptional photography skills and compete for awards,” said a CCJ statement.

The club outlined that submitted photos must be the original work of the contestant, unaltered or edited. The photos should exhibit the beauty of natural resources in the area, showcasing resorts and eco-tourism areas, or demonstrating a clean environment and positive development.

“The photographs should capture the essence of the subject matter, and must have been published by the participant’s organisation or any other media outlet between January 1, 2022, and August 30, 2023,” it explained.

Interested candidates are required to submit three photos as files, along with an original copy which proves that the image has been previously published in a media outlet. Submissions should be sent to the CCJ by August 30.
