Local and foreign tourists marvel at Angkor sunrise
As the resurgence of tourism in Cambodia continues apace, local and foreign tourists are flocking to Cambodia’s iconic Angkor Wat to witness the famed sunrise
Some tourists waited on the bank of the river in front of the temple, some came to sit in the library, and some waited on the porch near the pond north and south of the temple to see the view and take pictures.
Ms. Yean Dany, 29 years old, a resident of Phnom Penh, stated she was very surprised when she arrived in front of Angkor Wat because she saw a lot of national and international tourists who had come to watch the sunrise.
She said that although she had visited Angkor Wat many times, this was the first time she and her friends had visited the sunrise here and had to get up at 5 am.
Ms Dany lyrically described the the experience, saying that ‘When you see the beauty of the sunrise at the top of Angkor Wat, the pond reflects the golden light’.
She stated that she was not disappointed that she took the time to wait for the sunrise at Angkor Wat.
From further afield, Garency Fraken, an American visitor, was overjoyed to see the beautiful sunrise at Angkor Wat.
Mrs Fraken added that upon arriving in Cambodia on March 4, 2023, the first destination she and her family visited was Angkor Wat,
She now plans to visit many other ancient temples in Angkor. Siem Reap Provincial Information Department
