During the November 7-9 Water Festival, Cambodia saw more than 2.5 million people travelling the Kingdom. The majority of the tourists were Cambodian nationals, although in excess of 33,000 foreign residents also took advantage of the holiday to travel the Kingdom.

These figures represented an 80 per cent increase over the same period in 2021.

In a November 11 report, the Ministry of Tourism said an estimated 750,000 tourists were traveling on the first and third days of the festival, with day two seeing in excess of a million on the roads.

The report added that over the three days, Kampot had seen the highest number of visitors, with 588,000, placing it above second placed Preah Sihanouk, with 494,000.

Siem Reap province played host to 309,000 guests, placing it third, with Tbong Khmum and Kampong Speu each receiving approximately 233,000 tourists, to appear fourth and fifth in the report.

Phnom Penh was estimated to have seen 166,000 visitors, while Battambang and Kep provinces each received slightly less than 100,000, placing them seventh and eighth respectively.
