The government has established Chheu Kach Ba Phnom Mountain, which covers an area of 125,275 hectares and located in Prey Veng province’s Ba Phnom district, as a cultural heritage site.

According to a recent sub-decree signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen, the historical site of the kingdom of Nokor Phnom must be protected, preserved, and promoted for the benefit of all generations of Cambodians.

The government has also instructed the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Culture to work with relevant ministries, institutions, Prey Veng Provincial Administration and local communities to protect the cultural heritage site including the surrounding environment and the sustainable use of natural resources in the area in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Phnom Chheu Kach is a mountain in Moit Prey village, Chheu Kach commune, Ba Phnom district, Prey Veng province, 78 kilometres from Phnom Penh.

Ba Phnom is the old capital of Nokor Phnom and contains ruins such as the ancient Prasat Chan temple located in front of Wat Vihear Kuk near the foot of Sampov Mountain in Cheung Phnom commune. Phnom Chheu Kach is a historical site of Nokor Kork Thlok.
