Minister of Tourism sets out three strategic goals for tourism development
The new Minister of Tourism Sok Soken has set out three strategic goals to achieve this vision to develop the tourism sector in Cambodia.
Speaking at a meeting with around 400 leaders and officials of the Ministry of Tourism on Friday, Minister Sok Soken said that in line with the political platform of the Royal Government of Cambodia, of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly, he established a clear vision to transform Cambodia into a world-renowned tourist destination.
He set out three strategic goals to achieve this vision: to promote competitive tourism, ensure sustainable tourism, and foster inclusive tourism. To achieve these goals, he is leading the implementation of five strategic pillars, known as BUILD, and three priority supporting areas, referred to as 3Ds, to advance tourism development in Cambodia.
According to the ministry, this initiative aims to align and implement key tourism policies and strategic plans to effectively support the Royal Government’s efforts across all sectors from 2023 to 2028.
The minister emphasised the importance of collaboration among all parties involved in the tourism industry.
The ministry has a vision that in 2025 it will receive 6.4 million international and 16.7 million local tourists, and in 2026, it will receive 7 million international and 17 million national tourists.
